Armenian Medical Association of Great Britain

Armenian Medical Association GB (AMA-GB) was established in 1984 by Armenian Medical and Health Professionals in Great Britain. The aim of the Association is to promote health initiatives for Armenians in Great Britain and the Republic of Armenia; as well as to support professionals and volunteers working in Health and Social Care, whether in GB or abroad.

Objectives

The objectives of the Association are of a charitable nature, non-party in politics and non-sectarian in religion:

1. To develop a bond of friendship among Armenian Health Professionals in GB.
2. To organise medical, scientific, and social educational gatherings and networking for the members of the association.
3. To enhance and raise awareness of general and community-specific health matters and a better understanding of the availability of resources and facilities for Health and Social Care throughout GB.
4. To assist, advise and direct Young Native Armenians who are in Medical and related Health career development, and also overseas Armenian health care professionals seeking training or career in GB.
5. To encourage and promote the exchange of medical and scientific ideas and knowledge within members of the AMA_GB and between other Medical Organizations Societies and Associations nationally and in Armenia.
6. To affiliate to and participate in the activities of the Armenian Medical International Committee [AMIC]  and CAIA, as a member organisation.
7. To advise on and support health care in the clinical and academic disciplines in the Republic of Armenia.

Membership

The Membership of the AMA-GB is represented by public health, clinical and social care, and allied professionals.

The Members of AMA-GB meet quarterly for scoping/ identifying the requirement and the need of members and the British Armenian Community. In cooperation with AMIC, we schedule functions and events for increasing community awareness and knowledge. In addition, we support and provide advisory to medical care and medical schools in Armenia and Artsakh.

During the last 38 years, the AMA-GB has been involved in a number of activities in GB, Armenia and other countries with an Armenian Diaspora, e.g.  academic, clinical and practical activities In Armenia; fundraising for humanitarian aids;  petitions for health-related causes, etc.

Activities

Our Current activities include but are not restricted to:

• Continue teaching training and raising profile of Primary care [Family Medicine], Geriatric Medicine and health care system in Armenia.
• Raise awareness of Covid 19 Pandemic and promote vaccination program.
• Contributing in Founding maintaining and Supporting Rehabilitation center within Izmerlian Hospital with Barnabas Fund and Arajnordaran in UK.
• Helping the Armenian Community in Lebanon by sending medication and required equipment.

Vision

Our Mission is to provide excellence in healthcare and wellbeing in the Armenian Community in Great Britain.

We support the professional development of our members through collaboration with colleagues in the United Kingdom, Armenia and the diaspora. We work to improve the delivery of healthcare, medical education and research.

We also provide our health care professionals a forum for networking through professional and social gatherings as well as creating connections with other medical associations both within the United Kingdom and internationally.
